I’m Stacey, AKA Birdy. A childhood nickname that has always stuck with me.
I began blogging 4 years ago when my first child was born. It was a way to document her photos and milestones and provided a way for friends and family to keep up. In January of 2011 I started a year long project on my blog called Thankful Thursdays. I wanted to focus on the blessings in my life and wrote about them weekly. After a month or so, it became my place of healing and peace, almost like a prayer of thankfulness. I learned quickly that my weekly blogging kept me joyful and positive in the midst of my chaotic life filled with kids, housework, and marriage. This is, essentially, my diary.
I once saw a movie that gave the analogy of a woman’s personality resembling the layers of an onion. “She must be ‘peeled’ to get to the good part.” How true is that? Right here, that’s SOOO me! Except I usually don’t smell bad and I hope I don’t make you cry!
Writing in this blog is the process of “peeling my layers.” Some women need facials, massages, and pedicures to pamper themselves. While those are wonderful, I’d rather spend my time writing. It’s uplifting and eye-opening for me!

Well, mom…I understand!
He’s strong, handsome, and has a heart of gold. He’s a loyal friend and the funniest, most playful dad a kid can have.
